President’s Message September, 2024

September President’s Newsletter

It’s hard to believe that kids are back to school already.  And, yes, traffic has gotten so much worse again.  This is when I am glad I can plan my schedule around school drop-off and pick-up.  For September, be the sunflower quilter that always lets the light shine within!!!  And let’s get ready for Fall and, hopefully, cooler weather.  My plants are sure beginning to feel the effects of the summer heat!

  • It’s the Pieced Panel Challenge Parade this month! Please bring your top (or completed panel quilt) to the meeting.  You will be given a letter to pin on your quilt and a viewer’s choice form to pick your favorite.  Cool, cool, cool prizes will be awarded.  Pizza party at lunch with desserts that start with P…Wow!!!
  • Thank you for the outpouring of baskets given at the last meeting. If you have baskets, please continue to bring for the Basket Bonanza at the 2026 Quilt and Fiber Art Show.
  • Make any 12 and ½ red, white and blue block and get a Quilters Treasure Raffle ticket free. We need many more Quilts of Valor so please help.
  • It’s never too early to start thinking or making a QUILT for the Quilt and Fiber Arts Show in 2026. We are planning a Quilters Treasure Chest boutique this time with goodies provided by members, etc.  How exciting to highlight and sell products from our Guild.  So, start saving:  unfinished projects, patterns, finished projects, rulers, quilts, etc. that you no longer want or need.
  • Don’t forget that we offer OPEN SEW in one of the classrooms every afternoon after the Guild meeting. Bring your goodies and meet more quilting friends. It’s always great to get to know other members in a more intimate setting.
  • How is your Guild challenge coming along? I will be bringing forms for you to fill out in August to help us form categories.
  • Jennifer McClannahan from Sweet Tea Patterns will be our speaker and teach a workshop in the afternoon. She is a dynamo!

We are continuing our year long journey of pampering and taking care of OURSELVES.  This month celebrates love note day and self-awareness day.  Take a moment to be aware of who you are, the wonderfulness of yourself, your talents, and your virtues.  Love yourself and, maybe, even write a little love note to yourself.  Don’t just impart love to all those around you, send oodles and gobs of love to yourself!

See you all in September

Sunflower Power…Barb
