June in all its splendor is here…Summer! Graduations, beach days, Juneteenth, Father’s Day, longer days, flowers and sunshine. So, in June, let’s BRING ON THE SUNSHINE!!!
- As many of you know, I can get over-zealous about my passions. Quilting, charity, and the Guild fall into that category. Being co-chair of the Show Raffle Quilt Committee is another one. If I offended any member with my statements about show raffle tickets, please accept my apology. Although not mandatory, the show raffle committee is strongly encouraging each member to consider selling or buying 20 raffle tickets to support the SHOW. They make great gifts if you don’t want to sell. You can pick up at a meeting or we can send them to you via mail. Our goal is to sell 5,000. Thank you in advance for your support of the show and YOUR Guild.
- Extended: Bring in a 12 ½ inch patriotic block in June. You will get a free Quilters Treasure Raffle ticket and a drawing will be held for a special prize.
- Please bring a fat quarter to the June Meeting. We will be playing a game with them.
- How exciting! One Christmas stocking has been turned in already. Don’t forget to pin your name on it: it’s the 2023 Guild Challenge. I am looking forward to viewing them all and a charity choice for donation of proceeds. (Charity suggestions so far: Doors to Freedom, Dorchester Children’s Center, Ronald McDonald’s House, Lowcountry Food Pantry, South Carolina Youth Advocacy Program/SCYAP). Completion deadline is moved up to the October meeting. We need to see how many we get to adjust the program accordingly.
- I am very happy to announce that we will be donating $729 to Royal Family Kids Camp from our Fabric Sale Raffle. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
- Wasn’t Karen Kendo’s program on “Taking the Fear Out of Quilt Judging” fantastic? I personally learned so much about the process of becoming a judge, the judging process, the categories, etc. Karen, I know you will be a dynamite judge!
- Oh, my goodness, the suggestions from the Suggestion Box are so helpful! Much appreciated! Suggestions will be passed on to the appropriate committees. Remember this is YOUR Guild and we want to meet YOUR goals and needs! Keep those ideas coming!!! Bring on the Sunshine!
- We have initiated a Sister Guild/Affiliate Program with Devine Quilters from Columbia, South Carolina. If you choose to participate, it will allow access to newsletters, programs, meetings, events from both Guilds. Members will pay full membership fee for their Guild, and $10 to join the Sister/Affiliate Guild. Hope you will partake in the program! In fact, in July, there will be class offered by Devine called Petal Pop Zinnia Pillow. Check it out. If interested, contact Diane Mercer. It was wonderful to see Devine members at our meeting: Joyce Greer, Teresa Durden and Jodi Spillane.
See you at the June meeting!
